Helping adults make diabetes easier to manage is my professional life work, but more than that, it’s personal. I am passionate about fighting diabetes for my clients, my family and myself.
My Story. My Approach.
When I was 12 my dad was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, but I never really understood the struggles he was going through until later when I started learning about diabetes in college. That’s when I knew I wanted to specialize in diabetes, so I could help him and others manage diabetes.
Over the years I have seen him and other family members go through physical and emotional suffering from uncontrolled blood sugars.
I also have experience some of those challenges when I had gestational diabetes over 25 years ago. Now I am living with prediabetes, but thankfully so far, have been able to prevent type 2 diabetes.
My passion is to help others get blood sugars in control with food, movement, and monitoring strategies. Much of what I teach are strategies that I have used successfully and helped hundreds of others with over the years.
In 2021, I decided to start offering my strategies outside the clinic setting in order to help ore people reverse type 2 diabetes. With my coaching programs, groups and self-paced courses, I can offer help in a much more flexible and convenient way.
If you are wondering about my credentials, I am an RDN, LD, CDCES, which means registered dietitian nutritionist, licensed dietitian (licensed in Minnesota and South Dakota), and certified diabetes care & education specialist.
Many people shy away from meeting with a dietitian because they think we will tell them what they are doing wrong or take away all their favorite foods.
That is not my approach. I have found the best way to help is to first take time to listen to your concerns, and then provide information and strategies you can use, and finally, problem solve with you to create a personalized plan that works to get your blood sugars in target without giving up your favorite foods. I do not sell supplements or vitamins, but rather focus on real foods.
I would love the opportunity to help you manage diabetes as well!
